Intype web accessibility problems

posted by Ivan Čentéš in Miscellaneous | August 11th, 2007 |

All Intype web sites were not accessible the most time during the last two days. This situation was not caused by Intype team, neither by our hosting provider Websupport (which we thought of first).

According to some unofficial articles, and now also to an official mail letter from Websupport, the problem was caused by a router hardware failure in the slovak peering centre. The router belongs to a company which acts as an ISP for many big slovak portals and other ISPs, such as Websupport. As written in the letter, the problem should now be solved and all websites running normaly.

Anyway, we are considering a move to another hosting provider to minimize such problems like this in the future. We are also searching for some mirroring possibilities to avoid Intype releases unavailability.

We apologize for this inconvenience, and hope nothing like this happens again.

But now for some good news. We count more than 1000 downloads of the new Intype 0.3.1.547 release from the release time until now, and the number is still growing.

I think I could provide at least a temporary mirror if needed. I’m pretty sure my email’s in my account profile in the vanilla forum.

I can provide a mirror, too.

If you haven’t considered it yet you could use something along the lines of Amazon’s S3 to distribute Intype.

Instead of mirrors (now unneeded), you should get some nightly builds going. I mean there many bugs that have been fixed, some rather bad, and we aren’t getting the fixes because the features for next release aren’t finished yet. A bug fix build would be highly appreciated.

I totally discourage the use of mirrors from individuals. If mirrors are needed, use reputable companies, not from people, specially if they have a Hotmail email account.

    Intype is looking good. Thanks!

I agree about the mirrors - all kinds of malware can be attached to the downloads!

So almost everbody with paid or unpaid webspace is able to provide a mirror - fine. Agree to David and Nikolay!

Hey, what’s going on? Is development still progressing? From this site it doesn’t seem like anything is going on as of late.

We are communicating on a daily basis at the forums. We are currently having a little time for updates, due to our concentration on the 0.3.5 release and the new website implementation.
