Text Drag and Drop

posted by Ivan Čentéš in Screencasts | February 4th, 2009 |

As Martin and Juraj continue to put all the pieces of Intype together, it becomes more and more stable. This allows us to prepare screencasts showing some of the new goodies which Intype will provide in the upcoming release. The new arrival to the features family is Text Drag and Drop.

This new feature provides the ability to:

  • Open a new file by dragging some text in Intype and dropping it on the tab-bar.
  • Open a new file by dragging some text from any other application and dropping it on the Intypes tab-bar.
  • Drag and drop selected text from Intype to any other application.

The ability to drag and drop a selection within a document itself is not implemented yet, but is planned for the upcoming release. You can take a look at how it works in a short screencast:

We also plan to submit more screencasts as the features get stable. So stay tuned and see you in a week.

    Offtopic

Is there any way to donate you some money?

  • 2 Martin Cohen | 04.02.2009 at 12:51 pm

Illya Furman: Unfortunately no, there’s no way on how you can donate money. It’s just because we don’t want people to pay for yet incomplete product. However, we are thinking about enabling pre-orders some time after first beta release. Thank you for your good will.

Can I donate to the cost of the web hosting since I’ve been around long enough to have consumed considerable bandwidth? :D

  • 6 sagun | 04.02.2009 at 5:42 pm

Looks awesome! Can’t wait for the beta to come out of the womb.

I know it’s wrong to be excited about a text editor. But I am.

If you spend all day doing search and replace in Dreamweaver on Windows, Intype is a little gem.

I might be missing something in the screencast, but I assume there is drag and drop within the same document?

  • 10 Ilya Furman | 05.02.2009 at 1:51 pm

Martin, I don’t want to pay for product at the moment, I want to support development in some way :) My fifty bucks would be just enough for hosting or something like this.

Also, if there will be some ‘paypal donate’ link you’d get a lot more then my fifty bucks :)

And I see no problem in buying license when it will be ready, even if I’ve donated earlier.

dijon: No, drag&drop in the same document is not yet available, as written in the post:

The ability to drag and drop a selection within a document itself is not implemented at this time yet, but is planned for the upcoming release.”.
