Getting Unstable Releases

Unstable releases are available via RSS. The RSS contains all release notes including bug fixes, new features and modified features.
- Unstable Releases RSS
Once the release is stabilized and contains all planned features, it is moved to the Stable Releases category.

Reporting bugs

Feel free to report any bugs or annoyances in the current unstable release.
Please, always use UNSTABLE Releases category to report the bugs.
Don’t forget to add version number for every bug report.

I have suggestion.
1. Please use search function like firefox. It would be nice for me if search box will show up in the bottom of the window and search continues from the top automatically. Because the cursor can be below text.
2. Please add context menu entry (like notepad++) to any file. I can't open nfo file from context menu.

if you are interested in getting info about small bug in your program, please, read this note

program version 0.3.1.734 unstable, OS winXP sp3

when you press f11 (fullscreen mode) in Intype,
and then press win key (key on keyboard with win logo),
and then press link “ToggleDesktop” (in standard configuration it is in speed launch of start panel – this button hides all opened windows – i dont know how it is called in english version of windows)
you cannot return to intype any more from work table – im clicking to shortcut in start menu, it is not working.
AFTER THAT MOVES
when im launching any program, intype returns to fullscreen mode, but key f11 is not working any more.
then im pressing winkey again and restoring window size from menu, called from shortcut in start panel

Sorry, I just realized it was the font I chose. Strange how it does that though. Doesn’t do that in Notepad++.

[0.3.1.734] word wrap hides characters behind scrollbar

In using Intype Alpha 0.3.1.734 Unstable, I've noticed a small issue with Word Wrap. When not using 'Break at boundary', the automatic boundary seems to be beneath the scrollbar rather than at the left edge of it. This causes characters to be hidden under the scrollbar. Another side effect is that it enables side-scrolling with the home/end keys, but there is no horizontal scrollbar.

Hello,

I'm working since a few months with Intype without (too much ;) ) problems.
But I recently got the same problems several times.
I'm web developper and I often got my file converting to ANSI (from UTF-8) witthout action from me. And i got fifficulties to come back to UTF-8. I have to change of editor to restore my encoding.

Anybody else got the problem ? Any idea from where it comes from ?

Thanks in advance, and I hope it could be solved, I have to uninstall Intype now, to prevent from this reccurent problem.

[0.3.1.734] Invisible content on certain lines

Sometime after a long session of work on multiples files, the same bug occurs : one of the lines of the editor just became invisible.
I mean for example all the content of line 67 became invisible. I can select the line and write text, but it won't be displayed. I can insert text on line 66 and line 68 without problem.

If I put my cursor at the end of line 66 and press "Del", the content of the line 67 came on line 66 and the content of line 68 goes to line 67 and thus became invisible too...

If I close the tab and open the file again, the problem is still there, even if I close all my tabs before opening the document again. The only way is to close Intype and open it again.
I don't exactly know how to reproduce the bug step by step, but it kept occurring to me on a regular basis so I decided to post it here.

[0.3.1.734] Weird behaviour (Cut, paste, undo and save)

I've just encountered a weird behaviour. It is not really important, but can sometime gets confusing.

Here is how to reproduce it :

1. Open an existing document
2. Write some code, anything, anywhere
3. Save
4. Select the code you just wrote and cut it (CTRL+X) (the little * appears near the name of your document)
5. Paste (CTRL+V) your code at the exact same spot
6. Save your document again (the little * disappears)
7. Undo last operation (CTRL + Z)
8. Choose an other part of your document and paste (CTRL+V) your code here (ie. do not paste the code where it was before, put it somewhere else)

Your document has been modified since your last save, but the little * will still disappear (indicating that no change had been made), which is incorrect.

[0.3.1.734] Unable to open tiny_mce.js

Hello,

I'm using the Intype Alpha 0.3.1.734 Unstable and I can't open a specific javascript file.

The file is the main file from the tinyMCE WYSIWYG Javascript editor, it is kind of compressed (anything on the same huge line) and about 150Ko.

You can find it at http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/tinymce/tinymce_3_0_9.zip?download
It is the tinymce/jscripts/tiny_mce/tiny_mce.js.

Intype just take some time to open the file and then it only display a blank page without any code, just one empty line.

I do not really need to edit this file as there are development (unpacked) versions of this file available, but I thought I shared this information here.

the quick open feature is incredibly useful.
This is a very good addition and the behavior rocks, mostly to the fact that I don’t have to type the exact filename.
Keep up the work on this feature because since I found it 80% of my project manager browsing was off since I know part of the filename for almost all files I work with most often.
I noticed that in the list of files I get also recent files that are not in the project itself. I think this shouldn’t be since it bloats project files with out of project files that might be named similarly.

thumbs up for the intype project manager /file browser.
I have a project on a linux network share and after intype caches it the folders open up instantly.
E text editor for example takes up to 10 seconds to display certain folders in the same project.

[0.3.1.730] Memory inefficiency when handling large files

The new unstable realease seems to be very memory hungry. It’s not evident when working with relatively small files, but opening a 40 Mb file, for example, makes Intype allocate over 650 MB of RAM. EditPlus, on the other hand, needs less than 90 MB to do the same.

Hey,
Couple of little bugs with the bundle editor:

Clicking “Add Snippet” gives you a new item in the list but clicking on it doesn’t show the text input fields.
After you edit a snippet and go back to the editor, entering the trigger gives you the drop down menu for selecting which snippet, with two identical entries. Restarting Intype or reloading the bundles fixes this.

One request:

“Delete/Disable Bundle/Snippet” buttons.

If you change the appearance settings they will be saved, but not loaded if you close and reopen Intype. All you need to do is open the preferences dialogue and the click OK, but they should be loaded automatically.

Upon unchecking an appearance box such as Line Start or Line End, pressing, Apply and OK, then going back to the dialog, the option remains checked. Also, it is impossible to add an Appearance Preset.

UI / UA subjective changes

On Search / Replace I have a small UI/UA concerns.
I don't like how the buttons are disabled when in Find Mode and you can't really get to Replace Mode. I liked it much bette when you could do work in modes at the same time. NotTab was great for that. They also had a count occurances check box, but thats a feature and outside the scope of this post.

On Preferences ( this is so minor )
The way the 'Apply' button works is inconsistant with other windows UI's it should stay disabled untill you make another change above.

I am much more concerned with getting out other planned features then nit picking over little things, but I thought I would at least voice it. :)

Show hotkeys in snippets dialog filter

I really like the snippets dialog filter (Ctrl+Space) as I can finally find some of the snippets I knew were there but could never find. It would be great if you could also show the hotkey (if one is assigned) that triggers the snippet. Putting it either directly in the filter dialog or even in a hint on hover would be excellent.

P.S. Is there anyway to have these forums e-mail you when there is a response to a discussion? I find I don't tend to check back here as often when I get caught up in code and an e-mail notice would be great.

[3.1.652] Feature Request, shell menu from inside project sidebar

Any chance of showing the shell menu from a right-click inside the project sidebar? It would be nice to be able to get to things like rename and my SVN commands from inside the sidebar. Would make it easier to do svn commits from right inside Intype that way.

Open a file with intype => Press F11 to enter the full screen mode => Alt +Tab to switch to a window program which is not in maxmize mode
=> You should see the taskbar, so right click the taskbar and select “show the desktop” => Press the intype taskbar button
=> :) Intype could not recover to work !

hi all, i have checked forum but haven't found any reports on these two bugs i encountered in this unstable release ... here it goes:

- full screen editing does not work on multiple monitors ... i know this bug has been fixed in previous release but it looks like it's back again ...
- if you open a file with lots of lines of text, eg 10000 and use your mouse wheel to scroll, intype crashes without any error ... it may be only in my case, friend has his version running without any problems ...

keep up the good work, i have replaced ultraedit with intype and i am using it full time for a couple of months now ... so far, i have been a happy user :)

[0.3.1.598] Size grip is non-standard, looks odd

The new sizing grip in 598 looks like it came from a Win98 machine. Sizing grips in XP/Vista look much better/different. I'd suggest changing it to look more standard.

Hi,

It looks like the latest build [598] is not starting under Windows 2000 :( .
Build 596 and all previous releases worked without problems. There still are many computers that have W2k on them,
and I was happy to use InType.

The symptoms are the following:

Install Intype b598 on the clean computer with Windows 2000(sp4) (previous intype versions worked there).
Installation looks OK, like in previous versions.
try start intype application.
a process is created for a few seconds only (one can observe this with process explorer)
process dissapears without error messages or whatever.

I can send you the debug.log file generated by Intype if it helps (this forum doesn’t seem to support attachements :( ).

Please fix this problem in the next unstable build cause there still are many users that are forced to used W2k on some computers.

- "Appearance presets" -> "Add" -> (enter name) -> in "Options" check "Default".
- Press "Ok" to close window
- Reopen "Appearance presets".

Now you can't uncheck "Default". Even entering something in "Apply presets to these languages" and saving it doesn't uncheck "Default".

And another one popped up while testing that: when I press "Delete" for preset - unfinished message is shown: "<...> Deleting this preset will...".

[0.3.1.598] Folders from networked FTP drives crash Intype

I tried dropping a folder from one of my drive mounted FTP servers into the project panel and Intype crashed hard. But it was more of a hang than anything. It did however create the project file just fine.

UPDATE: It actually does work, but it hangs quite a bit before hand. I think its mostly a performance issue with networked drives and such.
