As much as I like Tahoma, I prefer Segoe UI a lot more. I copied the font from my Vista installation to my XP installation, and I’m now using the Segoe UI font at size 9 everywhere. I’ve noticed that Intype does not check which font face/size the user set, but used Tahoma size 8 as default. Would it be possible to use the system’s font face/size instead? Or at least an option in the preferences to specify the font face/size? This is probably not an important feature, but I think it’s something that can be done quickly, so why not?
While we’re on the subject, I think it’s great that Intype will detect all fonts on the system that are currently possible to be used in the editor (fixed width). I think, however, that it’d be better to have a set default of fonts that one can use (pre-installed/included system fonts) and then allow for other installed fonts that Intype deems acceptable to be “imported” into the settings file for allowed fonts.
“But…why?”
I’m currently able to code with wingding styled fonts, and ticker . ;)
I didn’t comment about this earlier when I was doing the Lucida Sans Console bug test because I actually didn’t notice… Silly me.
However, it’s only one more step to allow a user to be stupid, and probably a lot more coding — I’ll leave the decision up to the developers (not that I have any choice in the matter anyway!).
DeeLight: Yep, I’ll work on that. We handle all used UI font on one single place, so it will be easy to change.
BrendonKoz: This is good point. I’ve added an condition to remove symbol charset fonts from the select box.
