We all know what happens when deadlines are approaching and things are behind schedule… thats when night becomes day and day becomes night. So what keeps you up in the wee hours of the morning? Coffee? Music? Or simply the “joy” of seeing your code work?

At the moment, the main thing that is keeping me up all night is my sore throat :-) But normaly, I don’t need any upkeepers at all, I just don’t stay up very long :)

Only stuff that is working for late work for my daily job is: coffee & fags & fresh air (& pizza)

As for Intype, I often stay up all night just for the good feeling.

If I actually have to or want to stay up and work on programming something, I can do it pretty easily. I did it in college all the time and although it really screws up my biological clock for the week, for some reason, so long as I have some hot food and soda, I’m usually just fine. I sleep a lot, so I guess I have reserves stored away for just such occasions. :P

    yarden: fags? :)

    British slang for cigarettes. ;)

It’s (fags) also in practically any English dictionary, listed as slang.

Well, last night what kept me up was a 20 second phone call apparently from the new boyfriend of the girl I’ve been waiting for…she was engaged. I want to break something…as it is right now, the only thing breaking is me. Can’t sleep now.

Ouch, lady’s are vicious. It’s especially bad when the other guy is an idiot.
Pretty much the same thing happened to me.

If you want to handle Not Sleeping good, you should work out. I didn’t for a long while, then I started working out, and really noticed the difference those nights that I stayed up. Your body can handle it better. Also, eat a lot of citrus fruits and get a lot of antioxidants in your system, that will help boost your defense against free radicals (which causes the damage that is the main reason we need sleep).

Coffee, cigarettes and pizza is for morons. Well, maybe not pizza. Pizza’s only half-evil. Possibly. I’ve never had more than a sip of coffee in my entire life, and I wouldn’t dream of smoking. I was with a girl who smoked once; when we kissed, she felt like an ashtray. Like wet dirt. People who smoke are addicted to a drug – and it’s not doing them any good, not economically and not medically and (hopefully, and ultimately) not socially… and not in any other way. There’s much better ways to entertain your mind, your lungs and your tastebuds.

Sorry, just had to get it out of my system. My brother took it up a while ago and I just felt it was so mindboggingly stupid. He’s quit now. (You really should too, Martin.)

It may sound strange but my lack of sleep when I’ve got a reason to get up in the morning is what gets me through my all nighters. When I’ve got work or other plans that require me to set my alarm clock I typically live on 6 or 7 hours of sleep. So long as I can make it through the 6 or 7 hours when it feels like I should be asleep taking on the next day is pretty easy.

Yeah, I’m not a coffee drinker. I’ve never smoked, thank goodness too cause I think I would have a hard time quiting.

While I do drink coffee at times, it doesn’t seem to help me stay awake. The result of me staying up all night is always the same… I’ll sleep for up to 14 hours straight after the work is done.. >_> I can only stay awake if my codes are not working…:))
