The txmt URI scheme doesn’t seem like a bad idea – the ‘spec’ is here.

I'd still like to campaign for Ctrl+W to close the active tab. I know Ctrl+F4 has been around for ages, but I've never been a fan. Seriously, have you looked at your hand when you press Ctrl+F4 together?

Keep up the good work, though!

Im going to date myself here... but I still catch myself doing Alt + F + S to save that came from DOS Edit way back...
And another big thing I do is Ctrl + W to Write out (Pico / Nano) And this is a huge killer for me as you can imagine, I don't get the desired effect.

Keyboard mapping is planned, and Im looking forward to playing with it.

You’re not the only one that does the ALT+F+S to save, Rob. Even though I know CTRL+S is auto-save in many applications, I feel safer when I see that dropdown menu for a split second — it tells me that I absolutely hit all of the required keys, whereas CTRL+S doesn’t always have any (easily visual) feedback that I didn’t accidentally miss a keypress. I sorely miss it within Intype, tbh.

You have “* Filename” which changes to “Filename” when saved. What more visual feedback would you want? ;-)

Removing the little star in the tab or title of the window is almost invisible notification. There’s one task that will make things better in these notifications. I’m not sure which way will be better. Here are my options:

    1. Intype will display a yellow auto-dismiss box with the message that the file has been saved (will be also used for other notifications, like “document end reached”, “nothing found”, etc.).
    2. Intype will display a little icon for short time (like 300ms) over the tab that has been updated or needs user attention (for example when non active tab has been modified by another application).

Those are planned to the time when PM is stabilized and the file monitoring feature is implemented (after 0.3.5). Message boxes will be implemented in search feature update (before 0.4.1).

My goodness, that will be terribly annoying. I don’t think such a flashy save notification is needed, especially since it will do more harm than good as the developer is going to be distracted quite often by this. I think that the asterisk in the tab is a good solution. It doesn’t need one’s attention therefore it doesn’t break their concentration and if you really want to make the fact taht the file has been saved explicit to the user, you can just print “file saved” in the status bar.

Personally I find the asterisk in the tab enough, and in keeping with other applications (eg. Dreamweaver).

I agree with Ingwar and JSleight about the asterisk being enough and the notification being disturbing.

Concerning the second point some editors use tab flashing to indicate which file needs user attention.

I’m personally happy with the little ‘*’ in the tab – it’s pretty unobtrusive and fairly standard.

One thing that did occur to me was that the project pane might be a nice place for some of this UI to go (when it’s open).

Maybe a little popup-toast notification at the bottom of the project pane, or possibly a little temporary glow behind the files icon when it’s been saved or altered externally?

Why can’t we download some old unstable version ?
Please add them all, not just the last two versions.

Maybe... is near. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air.
