    Appearance Preferences dialog has helper text that is rendered with properties of disabled GUI elements. This makes it rather hard to see and – in case of select visual styles like OpusCodeC – virtually invisible, as may be seen here: http://ingwar.kofeina.net/intype-preferences.png

    That’s really down to how your theme renders disabled text labels, I guess.

    That’s true, but in both classic and XP default visual themes disabled text is hard to see as well (although not as hard as it is with this particular theme), so I think it just isn’t the best idea to use disabled text for a purpose like this.
