I think that the two tabs in the preferences dialog should be merged so that you can choose a Theme and font for each Appearance preset.

For example, I might well want to use a different theme and font for reading and writing prose and blog posts and stuff than I would for editing C or PHP code.

This would, for example, allow those who wanted to emulate Darkroom/lightroom to do so by using a larger font and green on black theme for text documents, while still being able to edit code using Blackboard and Consolas, for example.

    What do you think?

I was wondering if somebody will request this. :) We were thinking the same. However, Intype is now working with only one theme and font set at a time. We have this question still open.

I think that changing the theme per document type is not so critical, and it’s rather slight enhancement, that will bring only a little advantage for user, and less UX in configuration of the editor. Even the appearance preferences as presented are not easy to understand, so I keep this open.

Changing the font is more interesting thing to do. I have some updates of the font management already set (using multiple fonts and sizes per single document, variable line height, etc.). Also there are planned some updates for the renderer (font substitution), so I’ll try to include this (still with low priority, though).
