Why to buy InType when great editors like Notepad++ are available for free? How is InType superior to Notepad++?

why is any product is better then others products?

its not only about the price… there a big different between notepad++and Intype.
some people like how notepad++ works and other like intype (or any other text editor for that matter).

Gimp is free and its a great software… but why is everyone using Photoshop?
    difference of opinion i guess…

Well, why don’t you try it yourself, and come up with some constructive critics (other than price you even don’t have to pay yet). I was using Notepad++ (and many others Scintilla-based editors) myself, and the reason why I’ve started to work on Intype is that I could not believe that it cannot be done better. I first thought that Scintilla would be a good editor, and now, we have third generation of our own component supporting a lot more stuff that even Scintilla has in it’s roadmap. See working with column-selections (Alt+mouse), try multi-selections, try appearance preferences to define text layouts, try writing your own set of snippets, or change or create some grammar, try to manage project and have all files at your hand (see Intype’s Quick Open feature), and most of all, try to write your name when you post comments :)

And there’s far more stuff that is planned (even for february’s 0.3.5), and that we are working on hard last two months.

I love how 0.3.5 release is late for 6 months, and baael, yarden, dflock are all glad to know that it will be released on February 2009. I hope intype team know how lucky they are to have a community around this seemingly vaporware(blog page really gives that impression) product, and hitting digg front page even without undo/redo function. I’m not saying it’s an overrated product, but the development is so slow that it made me install Mac OS X on my HP laptop just to use Textmate. Even though I’m happy to use Textmate, and would never return to windows (except work), I still check this forum just to see if there is a release date:)

i still think that Intype is already good enough for me, that I dont need to combinate with Mac OS X and textmate, it succesfully fulfill my requirements.

Also I think that ppl want’s very much from their editors, best will be if it write all code for them. That’s not a point. or maybe i’m too old ….

I doubt if Martin meant February 2009. Martin’s post is dated Jan 2008 so he must have thought of releasing it last February but due to design changes of Intype, the release somehow dragged a long way and still it isn’t known.
