It seems like Intype development has stopped.

    The question is:
Maybe open the sources and let the community support the project? :)

    No, it didn’t.

it really didn’t, the fact that you haven’t seen a new release for six months, does not mean that “development has stopped.”.

the developers are working hard on Intype. but its not visual to us at the moment.

    i hope so :)

but i also have bad experience with konnekt.info (best communicator I’ve ever seen) , it died slow, no releases appear, and then developer team head said that he quit with all others developers :(

I hate to say it but I have begun relying more and more on my other text editor (e) lately because I just can't use Intype for real work until the project panel is more functional. I still think Intype has tons of potential but I was all excited about the 0.3.5 release and kind of putting some things on hold waiting for it and then I realized I can't wait forever. Work must go on!

Yes, lack of communication, again. I’m sure that it wouldn’t kill one of the Intype team to spend 10 mins a week (every week) on here to post a tiny update, eg:

Hi, we’re still alive, this is what we did/didn’t do this week. bye.

That would be all that would be needed.

It would be a shame if they eventually release another build and no-one’s around to notice.

Well, martin promised to revive the blog and to improve team’s communication with the community. That was few months ago and the blog is still dead and the forums are still being mostly ignored. I get a funny feeling that he considers the community to be a burden.

If you really want a great text editor but can't wait, try E Text Editor. http://www.e-texteditor.com/index.html

I still think Intype is on it's way to being better then E but we can't all wait forever.

Guys, the development really is not stopped. Intype is being developed each day and we never thought about stopping it. Yes, it takes its time, but it’s nothing new around here, is it? :)

Ingwar: I really don’t consider this community to be a burden and rather to talk about “what is going to be” I focus on the work for now. I’ll surely look forward to talk to you about the project, but for now, we just want to focus on the development. As for what I consider as a burden is when someone is misinterpreting my words. I said we plan to get back to blog, once the 0.3.5 is ready, and I said it like month ago.

dangdang: Well, you can easily catch me at mail, feel free to ask for contact. Many people do so, and I always reply.

dflock: It’s not easy to switch between daily job, Intype community, development, team management, my family and still being able to go on and have new ideas and taste for further development. I did choose to work on project like Intype, and I really enjoy it, but to be productive, some things just got to go aside sometimes.

Stam: If there would be some other team who is eager enough to work on (or finish) project like this one, you wouldn’t need to wait for Intype, would you?

martin, I do not misinterpret your words. In April you promised to relaunch the blog soon. Four months have since passed and “soon” still didn’t happen. I vaguely remember you reassuring us all that the you didn’t abandon the blog even before that. You also kept promising better communication with the community and that promise is much older than the one about the blog.

Please, do understand that no one is expecting you to write a fully featured editor overnight. But we’re your userbase and potential customers, yet you don’t even want to tell us the project is still being developed from time to time.

And when you do actually appear on the forums, you do so by telling the community that it is wrong about the state of the matters and that there’s no project like this one anyway. How am I not supposed to get the feeling that you consider the community a burden?

Keep up the good work Martin. The internets are not always kind, but all will be forgiven on the next release :)

@Martin: I am serious. If you can't keep up on the blog to let people know the status, let me Skype you once a week and get an update verbally and give me access to the Blog and I will fill it in for you. Seriously! I don't think it would take too long and it would put alot of people at ease. With first hand info like that I would also help you respond to questions on the forum. I really like Intype and want to see it succeed.

    IMO:

This is favour for us from Intype team to divide with community any news and releases. i think if someone isn’t patient enough shouldn’t wait for next release and use some other editors (like E or something)

Guys, Intype isn’t main thread in their lives, i think this is additionaly project, and nonprofit for now. i can’t wait when i see next release too, but stay cool. for now Intype gives me everythink i need, i needed sometime ago console connected to editor, and i made it, maybe not good working, but enough for me then. If You need project manager, use old one, i work like that.

other hand, Intype is good enough to expel for me any other editor, they are too big, too slow, too treacherous. Like ‘E’, i have too many crashes, like sublime, i like it, but… I expected something else, like ecplipse too big. All i need is intype, without extra hi-fi automatic magic in colour, it works great and defends itself.

And i almost forget, for now, if i need to process files i got my own programs and scripts in PHP, C# and Ruby, works great and do exactly what i want to do.

and if i get angry, i take train to Prague, will find Martin and drink a great Czech’s beer with him … :P

DevBoi however suffers (as my other projects like my Slovak and Czech usability evangelism blog) from lack of my attention :) Though there are some plans to get back to it for few days to create requested features and document the packages structure.

One does wonder if InType is suffering from the same thing.

waiting4eva: There’s no such thing as lack of attention for Intype. As far as I know Martin and Juraj, I’m sure that the only one who is suffering from lack of their attention are their employers, because their minds belong to Intype :)

donnie: DevBoi does work with Firefox 3 as well, the packages need just a little upgrade of their instal.rdf files. I prepared them and uploaded (temporarily) on my site:

UPDATE: Martin updated his official packages as well.

Thanks Centi. Martin's update worked. I was trying to download from mozdev.org before and it did not work.

Also thanks for Intype I have been hoping for something like this for years and I have been using this since the first release I think it is headed in the right direction and just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the good work guys :)
