Not sure if people here are aware but E-Editor is moving to an interesting new community collaboration model – they’re starting an Open Company where contributing community members share the profits and the editor itself has started to become mostly open source – and cross platform soon, too!
Interesting moves afoot in the text editor field!
Here’s saying goodbye to InType :(
Mostly open source doesn’t mean open source. I think that the license is little bit weird. I have looked for a while at the released source codes and personally for me, it looks like another messy open source project. It looks like first Martin’s prototype he made like 4 years ago.
I hope that Alexander will find good developers. We wish him good luck, though.
So, people have started hacking away on e editor – and it’s buildable on Linux already
I’ve built the linux version following the Fedora guide. It’s alright but there’s lots of small issues that will eventually get sorted out.
For Windows, though, the reliance on cygwin is a major turnoff and the reason I chose Intype over E in the first place.
